Zurich Man, 22, Arrested for Alleged Arson Plot Against Parents' Home
A 22-year-old man from Zurich is in custody, accused of attempting to set fire to his parents' house. The Zurich Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the case, which involves a suspected arson plot and previous incidents. Police discovered a gas cartridge, antifreeze-filled bottles, and matches at the parents' house. The man denies planning the act but admits the items found belong to him. He is suspected of preparing acts of arson and has been banned from entering his parents' home due to previous incidents. The man's father noticed a strong smell of gasoline two days before the arrest. The suspect told a police officer that 'some people would disappear', referring to his family members. A psychiatric report revealed the man has paranoid tendencies and is emotionally fragile, struggling to manage his life independently. The man has filed an appeal against his pretrial detention. The Federal Court confirmed the high risk of him committing the act, deeming his detention permissible. The investigation into the attempted arson continues.
