Yolanda Andrade laments her degenerative, uncured condition: "I might die before you"

Yolanda Andrade, a beloved figure in Mexican television for 34 years, has bravely shared her health journey with the public. In early August 2025, she publicly revealed that she is battling two degenerative, incurable diseases[1][3].

In a recent interview, Andrade spoke candidly about her current health condition, confirming the seriousness and chronic progression of her illnesses[1]. Although she did not disclose the exact names of her diseases, she has been open about the challenges she faces, including extreme fatigue, light sensitivity, episodes of pain, and motor problems[1].

Andrade has been seeking treatment for her conditions, including a stay at the Mayo Clinic in the United States a few months ago[3]. She is currently recovering in Sinaloa and Tulum, away from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City, where she feels the sand helps her walk better[2].

The host of the popular show "Montse & Joe" was honest in saying that what Andrade is suffering from has no cure[4]. Despite the grim prognosis, Andrade expressed gratitude for the expressions of affection from her followers, colleagues, and old acquaintances[5]. She has been hugged by people she didn't know knew her and has received prayers and love from many[6].

Andrade's friend and inseparable Montserrat Oliver was present when she spoke about her health status[7]. In a touching moment, Andrade hinted that she would like her biographical series to be made by Michel Castro, the youngest son of Verónica Castro[8].

Multiple Sclerosis, an incurable disease that affects the central nervous system, has been circulating as a possible diagnosis, but Andrade has not confirmed this[9]. Regardless of the specific diagnosis, Andrade's focus appears to be on managing her symptoms and maintaining her quality of life[1][3].

Although details about her future medical plans have not been made public[1][3], Andrade's openness suggests she is actively engaging with medical professionals and may be exploring palliative or symptomatic therapies as is common with degenerative conditions[1][3].

Despite her health challenges, Andrade has not let her spirit be dampened. She has reappeared on the program "Montse & Joe" after being absent for several months[2], and she remembered being very happy and grateful for all the expressions of love she has received from people[5].

As Andrade continues her health journey, we wish her strength, courage, and a continued spirit of resilience.
