The N4G Paris Summit 2025, held on March 27–28 under the leadership of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, brought together global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to address the critical issue of malnutrition and advance nutrition as a fundamental component of sustainable development, resilience, and equity.

The summit, which was a significant turning point in the fight against malnutrition, aimed to mobilise renewed financial and political commitment to address all forms of malnutrition, including undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, obesity, and diet-related noncommunicable diseases. Nearly US$28 billion in pledges were generated at the summit.

One of the key features of the N4G Paris Summit 2025 was the Village of Solutions for Nutrition, a space for exchange and the presentation of concrete solutions for nutrition. The Village, which is anticipated to contribute to the discovery of new solutions for nutrition during the summit, is a venue for inspiring discussions and the development of new solutions for nutrition.

The Nutrition Smart Communities, an innovative, multi-sectoral approach to realizing the right to food, will be presented alongside the Civil Society Organisation Nutrition Alliance (CSONA) from Malawi at the Village of Solutions for Nutrition. The Nutrition Smart Communities, which focus on supporting enabling environments and community-driven action to improve nutrition outcomes, align with concepts of smart, inclusive nutrition strategies at the community level.

The CSONA from Malawi, involved in the presentation at the Village of Solutions for Nutrition, underscores the commitment to nutrition justice, which inherently includes the right to food, highlighted by civil society networks advocating for sustainable, equitable, and nourishing food systems for all.

The N4G Paris Summit 2025 also emphasised the importance of enhancing accountability, evidence-based decision making, and collaboration among governments, UN agencies, civil society, academia, private sector, youth, and donors to track progress and strengthen nutrition commitments. The summit promoted measurable, SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) targets to ensure progress is equitable and inclusive, supporting vulnerable populations’ right to food and nutrition security.

The School Meals Coalition’s engagement at the summit reinforces a focus on nutrition interventions that guarantee children’s right to nutritious meals as a key driver of health and development. The summit underscored the importance of nutrition as a foundation for sustainable development, maternal and newborn health, and equitable food systems, directly supporting the right to food agenda and moving towards creating Nutrition Smart Communities that foster local ownership, resilience, and nutrition justice.

In summary, the N4G Paris Summit 2025 aimed to catalyse global financial and political efforts to end malnutrition in all its forms while promoting accountability and community empowerment. The Village of Solutions for Nutrition, part of the activities during the N4G Paris 2025 Summit, offers a platform for exchange and the presentation of concrete solutions for nutrition, playing a crucial role in achieving this goal. The N4G Summit, hosted every four years by the Olympic and Paralympic Games' host country, is a testament to the global commitment to combating malnutrition and ensuring the right to food for all.
