Volkswagen (VW) is preparing for potential job cuts, with approximately 3,400 employees working in programs like 'work2work' and the 'STARK' initiative in Hall 35 at risk. According to reports by the 'Braunschweigische Zeitung', these positions are part of so-called demographic and inclusion projects, designed to provide meaningful work for employees with limited performance capabilities.

The need for such positions is continually increasing, but VW is moving forward with announced job cuts. The reduction of more than 65% is part of last year's Christmas agreement aimed at achieving cost-saving targets in personnel costs.

While VW emphasizes that there will be no dismissals, the company is relying on early retirement or severance packages. This uncertainty is causing fear among affected employees about their future, with many seeing a return to regular production as unrealistic.

The discontinuation of flagship projects could negatively impact VW's prestige, but the focus seems to be on cost-cutting measures. The works council spokesperson has expressed their dissatisfaction with the announced job cuts, and employees involved in dismantling protection and integration projects may be particularly affected.

Concerns include job insecurity, loss of specialized roles, and uncertainty about future career prospects. Employees may not want to accept offers that could potentially affect their employment, adding to the overall uncertainty.

As Volkswagen moves forward with these job cuts, it remains to be seen how the company will navigate this challenging period and what the long-term impact will be on both the company and its employees.
