Updated inventory of complimentary medications: eligible recipients and new additions identified

The Kazakhstani Ministry of Health has recently amended the list of medicines offered free or at reduced rates for outpatient use, as per a notification on our platform. This update was approved by an order dated May 19, 2025, set to take effect from June 3.

In the revised list, several medications for mental disorders now become available at no cost for patients under dispensary observation. These include Trifluoperazine, Chlorpromazine, Levomepromazine, Perphenazine, Haloperidol (tablets and oily solution for injections), Clozapine, Olanzapine, Risperidone, Paliperidone, Diazepam, Amitriptyline, Venlafaxine, and a new addition, Amsulpride (oral solution). Methadone for the maintenance therapy of opioid dependence has also been included in the list.

For adults with high cardiovascular risk or hypertension coupled with chronic kidney disease, the compulsory health insurance now covers Indapamide, Metoprolol, Bisoprolol, Amlodipine, Candesartan, Enalapril, Perindopril, and Fosinopril. A new addition to the list is Perindopril in combination with diuretics. In cases where basic therapy proves ineffective, Moxonidine is also included.

Similarly, children under 18 years of age with similar indications will now receive the same medications as those with adult hypertension.

The order is scheduled to come into force on June 3, 2025, following a 10-day period from its official publication. Previously reported, Kazakhstan is implementing a system for issuing free medications via QR code in the eGov Mobile app, aimed at addressing issues in the healthcare sector.
