Syd Evans, a renowned artist, has expressed gratitude to everyone who submitted ideas for the "Little Monsters" concept contest. The contest, held in spring 2025, aimed to create a unique collection of illustrations representing various mental health challenges.

After careful consideration, Evans selected two winners whose designs will bring to life the new "Little Monsters" embodying Anxiety and Social Anxiety. These latest additions to the series join the original four monsters - ADHD, body dysmorphia, hyperfocus, and depression - in the ongoing "Little Monsters" series.

The "Little Monsters" series is based on the concept of mental health challenges being represented as little monsters. Each monster does not inflict mental health conditions onto someone but rather experiences and embodies them.

Evans found reading through the entries for the contest deeply moving. Many of the submissions shared personal experiences and emotions, serving as a reminder of the strength it takes to name and explore mental health journeys.

The new "Little Monsters" will make their debut this spring, with a special unveiling at Made in ALX at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. The series, already meaningful to Evans, has resonated with many people, offering a unique and powerful way to represent and discuss mental health challenges.

In a show of continued commitment to the project, Evans is now accepting submissions for ideas for new "Little Monster" illustrations. The artist is excited to add more monsters to the series, continuing its mission to create illustrations that represent a mental health condition.

The "Little Monsters" series is more than just a collection of illustrations; it's a testament to the resilience and creativity of those who have faced mental health challenges and a powerful tool for starting conversations about mental health.
