Unidentified nurse, reportedly using twenty pseudonyms, is alleged to have worked across multiple medical institutions in different states, according to authorities.
In a shocking turn of events, Shannon Nicole Womack, a woman accused of posing as a nurse, has been under investigation for her alleged activities in at least six states across the United States. Womack, who is not licensed to practice nursing in any of these states, has been unmasked for her deceptive practices and is currently the focus of a widespread manhunt.
The investigation into Womack began with a routine traffic stop in Cecil Township, Pennsylvania, in April. During this stop, Womack allegedly provided aliases that had numerous active warrants. The search of her vehicle revealed multiple forms of ID, medical records, and prescription medications, raising suspicions that led to a deeper investigation.
It was discovered that Womack had approximately 20 different aliases and seven Social Security numbers, a testament to her elaborate efforts to evade detection. She posed as various nursing roles, including LPN, RN, and RN supervisor, at numerous healthcare facilities across several states.
In Pennsylvania alone, Womack worked at nine healthcare facilities across several counties over the last year. These facilities include Corner View Nursing and Rehabilitation (Allegheny County), Eldercrest Rehabilitation (Allegheny County), Harmar Village Care (Allegheny County), Beaver Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation (Beaver County), Sayre Healthcare Center (Bradford County), St. Mary’s Home of Erie (Erie County), Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing (Washington County), Southmont of Presbyterian (Washington County), and Oak Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation (Westmoreland County).
Womack's actions potentially led to older citizens not receiving the care and medication they needed, a fact that Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh described as "vile" and "taking advantage of older citizens in this Commonwealth."
To clear background checks, Womack is said to have provided fake references to agencies. Moreover, she created her own host agency to obtain nursing jobs through staffing agencies.
The Pennsylvania State Police are asking providers to call if they suspect Womack may have worked at their facility. They are also investigating Womack and are seeking the public's help in bringing her to justice. Womack is listed on Georgia's Nursing Impostor Alerts, indicating that her activities are not limited to Pennsylvania.
The public is urged to exercise caution and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. As the investigation continues, it is crucial to ensure the safety and well-being of our elderly population.
