Truck Driver in Odisha Sexually Assaults Escaping Gang Rape Victim
In Odisha's Malkangiri district, a horrific incident of abduction and sexual assault has come to light. According to Malkangiri superintendent of police (SP) Vinodh Patil H, who shared details about the incident on Tuesday, a young girl was abducted while returning home after attending evening prayers in a local place of worship.
The girl was first taken by three youths to a deserted house, where she was subjected to gang-rape. Afterwards, she was abducted again and this time by a truck driver. The girl managed to escape from her captors and flagged down a truck driver for help. However, instead of helping her, the driver took her to a jungle and attempted to rape her.
Fortunately, the girl was rescued by local people who found her in the jungle, 15 km from the first crime spot. The police acted within six hours after being informed by the villagers who rescued the girl. The driver was apprehended by the police after being alerted by the locals.
The three youths and the truck driver have been arrested by the local police, and all four accused have been sent to jail following their arrest. A case has been registered under appropriate sections of law against all the accused. The police are working diligently to build a strong case against the accused.
The girl was later handed over to her family after counselling. The identity of the truck driver involved in the reported sexual assault incident in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has not been publicly disclosed. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure justice for the victim.
