Initiates third consecutive action week combating solitude - Third-week initiative combats solitude: Prien's action plan against isolated living continues

Germany grapples with an alarming degree of loneliness, as revealed by a survey conducted by Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) last December. The study found that an estimated 58% of individuals across all age groups in Germany experience feelings of isolation. The younger generation appears to be particularly affected.

During its third Action Week against Loneliness, CDU, led by Karin Prien, aims to build upon the federal government's existing strategy to combat loneliness. The campaign commenced on Sunday.

In her opening remarks, Prien underscored the importance of addressing this growing concern. Addressing loneliness is a widespread issue in many countries, with initiatives frequently involving community engagement and support programmes to counteract social isolation.

In the face of these pressing challenges, ongoing efforts such as the Action Week against Loneliness instigated by Prien and the CDU hold significant potential for bringing about positive change in communities across Germany.

  1. In order to address the growing issue of loneliness in Germany, particularly among the younger generation, the employment policy of the CDU during its Action Week against Loneliness may consider incorporating health-and-wellness programs that focus on mental health, promoting community engagement and support.
  2. To further complement the federal government's strategy to combat loneliness, science can potentially contribute by conducting research on effective methods to address social isolation, providing evidence-based solutions for community policy implementation, thus contributing to an improved society for all ages.
