The European Commission introduces a fresh venture aimed at boosting the prominence of the World Wide Web.

During the Bavarian Dementia Week, the Martinushaus will play host to the 'Art Dementia Community' exhibition, running from September 17th to October 16th. The exhibition's vernissage will take place on Wednesday, September 17th, at 5 PM.

The event, open to relatives, volunteers, and those affected by dementia, will kick off with a lecture by Iris Schubert from the Office of Food, Agriculture, and Forestry in Bavaria. The topic of her lecture is yet to be announced.

In addition to the exhibition, an interactive sensory tour will take place, aiming to raise awareness of changed sensory perceptions in the elderly. Various aids will demonstrate how meals and the environment can be adapted to the needs of people with dementia. Attendees will also receive tips on empathetic interaction with those affected and strategies for addressing changes in eating and drinking habits, as well as preventing weight loss and malnutrition.

The 'Art Dementia Community' exhibition features works created by people with dementia as part of a project in Aschaffenburg in the summer of 2025. The exhibition will be on display in the foyer of the Martinushaus, parallel to the event.

On September 19th, another event titled 'Hold onto what connects us' will take place in Aschaffenburg. This event is organised by several local organisations, including the Alzheimer Society Aschaffenburg, the Advice Centre for Dementia Untermain, and the Franz-Goehler Foundation Hoehsbach. The event will include a lecture on the importance of enjoying food and social participation for people with dementia. The speaker for this lecture is yet to be announced.

Admission to both events is free, and entry to the Martinushaus will be from 2 PM. For more information about the Bavarian Dementia Week, visit www.demenzwoche.bayern.de. The event at Martinushaus, Treibgasse 26, Aschaffenburg, will take place from 3 to 5 PM.

We invite everyone to attend these enlightening events and learn more about the challenges faced by those with dementia and how art and community can help bridge the gap.
