Redesigning the User Experience on Our Digital Platform
The national science agency's editorially independent publishing arm, a partner in our magazine business, has announced the termination of our platform's production. This decision, deemed as difficult, will see the final print edition published in June 2025, followed by the ending of digital subscriptions on the same date. All subscribers will be reimbursed for their remaining subscription term, with specifics detailed below.
Cosmos' online news service will persist on our website but will move to our publishing partner's new digital destination for science content later in the year. This new platform will combine peer-reviewed journals, e-books, and science news aimed at forming a sustainable and consolidated source of science content for audiences. A news team will continue to publish stories about the latest scientific discoveries, along with interviews with scientists.
Subscribers are advised to sign up for Cosmos newsletters to stay updated on these developments. The decision to halt the print production of Cosmos magazine was not taken lightly and echoes a broader trend of audiences migrating away from print magazines, while production costs continue to escalate.
Subscription Refunds
Specific refund procedures will depend on the method of subscription purchase:
- Subscriptions bought directly from our publishing partner and paid via credit card will have the remaining balance credited to the card owner's account.
- Subscriptions bought through the Royal Institution of Australia prior to June 2024 should contact us via email ([email protected]) or phone (1300 788000) to initiate a refund.
- Agents will handle refunds according to their standard procedures for subscriptions purchased via them.
- Schools or libraries that purchased via EFT or through an invoice on their school account will be contacted to organize their refund.
For media inquiries, contact [email protected], while general enquiries can be addressed to [email protected] or by calling 1300 788000.
