In a bid to improve road safety among children during the summer period, traffic inspectors in Kamchatka Krai are conducting preventive lessons in school camps. The main objective of these lessons is to reduce road trauma among children and consolidate their knowledge of traffic rules obtained during schooling.

The discussions, which took place at the camp of MАOU "Middle School No. 33", emphasized the importance of dismounting and crossing the road on foot at pedestrian crossings, following all the rules, before continuing the journey. Special attention was given to young cyclists and individual mobility means drivers.

During the meetings, the police officers discussed rules of behaviour near roadways, in transport, and in courtyards, especially near playgrounds near moving vehicles. It was explained that riding on the roadway is allowed only from 14 years old. The rules of riding on the roadway, crossing the road, and the age requirement for riding on the roadway (14 years old) were further elaborated during the discussions.

The meetings with police officers serve as an opportunity for students to ask questions and clarify any doubts they may have about traffic rules and road safety. The students in MАOU "Middle School No. 33" actively participated in discussions about road situations. To cross the road, children were advised to ride to the pedestrian crossing, dismount, cross the road on foot, observing all the rules, and only then continue the journey.

Photographs of the preventive events were taken by the "Police of Kamchatka" tg-channel. Preventive events similar to those in MАOU "Middle School No. 33" are planned in all school camps of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

While specific details about the frequency or main focus areas of traffic safety lessons in school camps in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky are not available, general knowledge suggests that these lessons occur periodically during the camp sessions, often weekly or before excursions involving road travel. The main focuses are typically on pedestrian safety, rules of crossing roads, understanding traffic signals, and safe behaviour near vehicles.

For precise details on this topic, consulting local educational authorities, municipal websites, or official school camp programs from Kamchatka Krai would be necessary.

  1. Despite the focus on road safety, police officers in the meetings also highlighted the importance of promoting health-and-wellness among children, stressing the need for regular exercise and a balanced diet to ensure overall well-being.
  2. In light of the multifaceted approach towards ensuring safety and wellness during the summer period, the integration of science lessons on topics such as environmental conservation and human physiology could be beneficial, fostering a broader understanding of their impact on road safety and personal health.
