Prominent Obstacles Women Encounter in Marketing Sphere

During Women's History Month, a group of influential executives came together for a thought-provoking discussion on the ongoing issues faced by women, particularly women of colour, in the marketing industry.

The interview, part of a video series aimed at providing ongoing insights and advice for women marketers, featured Cindy Gallop, founder and CEO of Make Love, Not Porn, Nancy Reyes, CEO of TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, Kenya Brock, head of marketing and communications at We Are Rosie, God-is Rivera, global director of culture and community at Twitter, and E.T.

The conversation highlighted the need for change in the industry to address challenges such as underrepresentation in leadership roles, wage gaps, stereotyping, lack of mentorship and sponsorship, and bias in hiring and promotion processes. The discussion also touched upon the intersectionality of gender and racial biases, which can lead to fewer opportunities and diminished visibility for women and women of colour in the industry.

The executives shared their personal experiences and insights during the discussion, emphasising the need for empowerment in the industry for women marketers. The conversation delved deeper into empowering marketers to overcome these challenges, providing valuable advice for those navigating the industry.
