Preparing Two New Cemeteries for the Inhabitants of Krasnoyarsk
In the chilly heart of Siberia, KrasnoYarsk, the race for burial spots is heating up. As the city's resident graveyards fill to the brim, officials are eyeing two new burial grounds - one in Berezovsky and another in Yemelyanovsky districts.
The burial crunch in KrasnoYarsk has been a looming crisis for quite some time. During the city's annual report, Mayor Vladislav Loginov shed some light on the matter, revealing that the new part of Shinsky Cemetery, opened in 2021, might run out of space—as early as this year!
Two potential locations have been earmarked for the new burial grounds. The first one lies snugly in the Berezovsky district, just a stone's throw from Shinsky Cemetery. The land has already been documented and tidied up, and a road to it has been built.
The second potential site is still on reserve—in Yemelyanovsky district, near the KrAZ factory. At the moment, it falls under agricultural classification.
Loginov revealed during the meeting that a letter requesting the initiation of talks to transfer the land to the appropriate zone, enabling the construction of the new burial ground, was prepared and sent to the head of the Krasnoyarsk regional government just a week ago.
Additionally, in the same year, the city is expected to complete a census of burials, providing a solid understanding of the resources available at the current graveyards. The mayor also mentioned in his report that construction on a crematorium has already begun in the vast "city of the dead" - the Badalyk cemetery district.
