Olympus Launches OLYSENSE CAD/AI Portfolio for Enhanced Endoscopy Outcomes
Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG has launched the first three applications within its OLYSENSE CAD/AI portfolio. The cloud-based, AI-supported apps aim to enhance patient outcomes across various disease states within the endoscopy unit. The initial portfolio includes CADDIE, CADU, and SMARTIBD, all CE approved for Europe.
CADDIE assists in detecting and characterising suspected polyps and potential early signs of colorectal cancer during colonoscopy. It has shown a 7.4% absolute increase in adenoma detection rate (ADR) compared to standard care. CADU, on the other hand, highlights areas with the highest likelihood of dysplasia in endoscopy images to support clinical decision-making for Barrett's Esophagus. SMARTIBD assists in the analysis of Ulcerative Colitis in line with the MAYO scoring.
The OLYSENSE CAD/AI portfolio is designed to address clinical and operational performance in healthcare. It harnesses artificial intelligence to detect and characterise suspected tissues and lesions during endoscopy procedures. The launch of OLYSENSE marks the first step towards creating Olympus' intelligent endoscopy ecosystem. The first three applications will initially be available in selected European countries, focusing on earlier GI detection and workflow support via cloud apps in the EU.
