Brantford General Hospital Unveils Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area - Zone 7
Brantford General Hospital (BCH) has expanded its Emergency Department (ED) with the opening of the Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area - Zone 7, a modern 2,200-square-foot extension designed to support lower-acuity patients. The new space, located within the hospital, now increases the ED's total area to over 25,000 square feet.
The Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area is equipped with six single-patient treatment rooms, six treatment chairs or recliners, a dedicated minor procedures room, and modern medical equipment. It also boasts enhanced, comfortable waiting areas to ensure a more efficient and patient-centered emergency care experience.
This initiative is part of the hospital's $32 million Emergency Department Renovation Improvement Project. The donation from Erik and Birthe Andersen, which honours this philanthropic gift to the BCHS Foundation, has been instrumental in the project's progress.
Kari Wilson, executive director of the BCHS Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the generous donation, stating, "The Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area - Zone 7 is a testament to the exceptional generosity of Erik and Birthe Andersen. Their gift will benefit community healthcare for generations."

The completion of the Emergency Department Renovation Improvement Project is expected by early 2027. The naming of the new area, Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area - Zone 7, honours the transformative philanthropic gift to the Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation.
In conclusion, the Andersen Ambulatory Assessment Area - Zone 7 marks a significant step forward in improving emergency care at Brantford General Hospital.
