Monkeypox: Next Potential Pandemic Approaching – Disregard Regulations
=============================================================================
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued the highest global health alert for monkeypox (Mpox), although its spread is currently limited to some regions of Africa.
In a recent development, Jeremy Farrar, formerly the director of the billion-dollar health foundation "Wellcome Trust," participated in a simulation game on the topic of "monkeypox" at the Munich Security Conference in 2021. Farrar is now the Chief Scientist at the WHO.
Meanwhile, BioNTech, the biotechnology company known for its pioneering mRNA COVID-19 vaccine developed with Pfizer, is expanding its portfolio to include mRNA vaccines against Mpox. In May 2024, BioNTech and CEPI announced they are expanding their portfolio, including vaccines against Mpox. BioNTech has also entered into a strategic partnership with CEPI in late 2023.
BioNTech is building its first commercial African vaccine factory in Rwanda, with a focus on mRNA vaccines against Mpox. The EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock attended the opening of BioNTech's vaccine factory in Rwanda. Germany is supporting the development of vaccine production in Rwanda with almost 36 million euros of German taxpayers' money.
The monkeypox vaccine "Imvanex" from "Bavarian Nordic" is the only one to be approved in both the EU and the USA. This vaccine is already being produced in Denmark.
In Austria, the Tyrol section of the Red Cross is currently hiring employees for vaccination centers. The new employees will be tasked with managing patient flows, preparing barcodes and vaccination certificates, and carrying out mobile vaccinations. They are expected to be "assertive" and will receive a gross salary of around €2,450 per month at their place of work in Vienna.
However, it's important to note that Christine Anderson, a Member of the European Parliament, has expressed skepticism about the monkeypox situation. An open letter from Anderson was published on 21 August 2024. It's worth mentioning that there is no publicly available credible information connecting Anderson, BioNTech, CEPI, and monkeypox vaccines together in any direct or official manner.
The "Wellcome Trust," the Gates Foundation, and the UN stand out in CEPI's 2024 investor overview.
