Michelle Obama Kicks Off Let's Move! Tour to Fight Childhood Obesity

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is set to embark on a two-day nationwide tour to celebrate the third anniversary of her Let's Move! initiative. The tour will visit Clinton, Mississippi, Chicago, and Springfield, Missouri, promoting healthy lifestyles for children across the country.

Michelle Obama will kick off the tour, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity for children's health and academic performance. Dancing, even simple activities like the Harlem Shake, can promote various health benefits. Since the initiative began, more families have gained access to information for healthier choices and opportunities for physical activity.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 17 percent of children in the U.S. are obese. If obesity rates aren't addressed, some states could see a 60 percent obesity rate by 2030. The Let's Move! initiative aims to improve the health of the country's children by promoting healthy eating and physical activity. Modest weight loss and better health can be achieved through physical activity programs and parental help. Incorporating recess at school or other physical activities outside school can also be beneficial.

The tour, which includes visits to Clinton, Miss., Chicago, and Springfield, Mo., is expected to inspire children and families to lead healthier lives. Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon, who will join the tour in Springfield, Missouri, are among the enthusiasts for a healthy lifestyle who will participate in the event.
