Mentorship Initiative 2022 under EQ50

The EQ50 Mentorship program, a forward-thinking initiative aimed at promoting diversity in the Drum & Bass scene, is back for its second season. This program, founded by DJ Flight, Mantra, MC Chickaboo, Jenna G, Sweetpea, and Alley Cat, offers a unique opportunity for emerging artists to develop their skills and careers.

The program is open to international artists who are serious about a career in drum and bass and have a good level of production skills. Applicants should also be ambitious, as the program does not promise gigs, releases on dream labels, or headlining festivals. Instead, it offers full support and belief in the artists' ability to improve their production skills and become the artists they want to be.

The EQ50 Mentorship program provides participants with the tools to succeed in the industry. Over the course of 12 months, it will support 5 new mentees, offering tailored guidance and industry connections. In the past, the program has introduced unstoppable talents like Nia Archives, who won an NME award for 'Best Producer' and an AIM award for 'One to Watch' in 2020. Bristol-based producer and record label owner Mandidextrous, another mentee from 2020, has also gone from strength to strength with their production and rise in popularity.

EQ50 has partnered with several notable labels such as 1985 Music, Audio Porn Records, Drum & Bass Arena, Rupture, and The North Quarter for the program. Past mentees have also gained professional development, release opportunities, and visibility in the genre. While specific accomplishments of individual mentees may vary, examples of artists who have been taking the scene by storm since their mentorship include Athena, Charla Green, and Anikonik.

Interested artists can apply for the EQ50 Mentorship program through the application form available on the EQ50 website (www.eq50.co.uk). Applications close on November 1 at 23:59pm. The program is not just a stepping stone to success; it's a platform for artists to grow, learn, and make a mark in the Drum & Bass scene.

Critical Music signed producer Spectral is another star to come off the back of this program, having recently been signed by Primary Talent. Mandidextrious, another success story, closed the infamous Printworks for Ram's 30th anniversary celebrations. These examples demonstrate the potential for artists who take part in the EQ50 Mentorship program to achieve great things.

In summary, the EQ50 Mentorship program is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists in the Drum & Bass scene to receive tailored guidance and industry connections. While it does not promise specific outcomes, it offers a supportive environment for artists to grow and develop their skills. For more detailed and updated information about past mentees and their success stories, I recommend checking official EQ50 program communications or contacting the program organizers directly.
