Medical facility achieved designation as RQI Lighthouse due to dedication to enhancing cardiac arrest survival rates.

Strong Memorial Hospital, a premier healthcare delivery network in upstate New York, has been honoured with the distinction of being a Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Lighthouse Organization. This recognition comes from RQI Partners, the partnership and service provider for the American Heart Association and Laerdal Medical.

The hospital has demonstrated a commitment to resuscitation best practices and has sustained mastery of high-quality CPR skills through more frequent learning experiences. Care staff participate in quarterly self-directed, competence-based, simulation mastery learning and performance provided through cognitive and hands-on CPR quality improvement sessions.

Strong Memorial Hospital's adoption of the extensive staff training and education program developed by the American Heart Association and Laerdal Medical in 2015 has significantly improved the healthcare staff's resuscitative knowledge and skills, leading to improved patient outcomes.

The University of Rochester Medical Center, home to Strong Memorial Hospital, is one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. With over 26,000 part- and full-time employees, it has been at the forefront of biomedical research, garnering over $1.3 billion in funding over the last five years. The University's School of Medicine and Dentistry ranks in the top one-quarter of U.S. medical centers in federal research funding.

Strong Memorial Hospital is also recognised for its specialised services. It is home to Western New York's only cardiac transplant program and is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Level One Regnal Trauma and Burn Center.

The RQI Lighthouse Organizations align with the RQI mission to eliminate preventable death from sudden cardiac arrest. Strong Memorial Hospital joins an exclusive group of 15 institutions in the United States to receive this designation, having demonstrated six years of education and training to improve resuscitation care for in-hospital cardiac arrest.

It's worth noting that apart from Strong Memorial Hospital, other institutions in the United States that were part of the RQI Lighthouse Organizations class for 2020-21 and recognised for high-quality CPR skills and resuscitation best practices are not listed in the available search results.

The American Heart Association, a leading source of health information for nearly a century, has played a crucial role in the development of this program. RQI Partners LLC, a partnership between the American Heart Association and Laerdal Medical, delivers innovative resuscitation quality improvement programs.

This recognition underscores Strong Memorial Hospital's dedication to providing the highest quality of care to its patients and reinforces its position as a leader in healthcare delivery in upstate New York.
