SHAH ABDUL LATIF UNIVERSITY HOSTS WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY AWARENESS SEMINAR
Hyderabad – In observance of World No Tobacco Day, the Students Society Centre at Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, joined forces with the Anti-Narcotics Student Society to hold an awareness seminar. The event aimed to educate students about the perils of tobacco.
The initiative was spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Yousf Khushk, Vice Chancellor of SALU, who has consistently championed student welfare and fostered a drug-free academic environment.
Dr Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator of the Students Society Centre, welcomed participants and underscored the constitutional mandate to safeguard public health. Referencing Article 9 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which enshrines the right to life and personal security, he emphasized the university's commitment to protecting students from tobacco and narcotics.
The keynote speaker, Dr Farman Mangi, underscored the need for immediate action to shield young people from tobacco addiction. "Now is the time to act," he stated, "to ensure our future leaders are safeguarded from tobacco's hidden dangers." He encouraged students to become advocates of change.
Seminar participants actively engaged, with students sharing passionate messages against tobacco usage. Their testimonies demonstrated a profound sense of responsibility and leadership.
In an artistic expression of the cause, students unveiled sketches and posters vividly portraying the adverse effects of tobacco and the importance of prevention. These visual representations garnered appreciation and amplified the message's impact.
The Anti-Narcotics Student Society played a pivotal role in coordinating the event and promoting active participation. The seminar concluded with a pledge to uphold a tobacco-free campus and disseminate awareness beyond university boundaries.
