Mangaluru's COVID War Room Uses Tech to Track Health, Movements

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mangaluru's Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has been transformed into a COVID War Room. Established by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration, this centre uses advanced technology to monitor and track the health status of citizens and their movements.

Previously known as the ICCC, this facility was set up in 2019 by Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSPL) to manage various administrative operations. It initially oversaw healthcare, traffic, and solid waste management. However, with the onset of the pandemic, its purpose was repurposed to combat the COVID-19 crisis.

The COVID War Room operates through a dedicated call centre with a helpline number. Citizens under self-quarantine can reach out for telemedicine services and receive assistance. The centre utilises predictive analytics, including heat maps, to keep track of people's health status and their movements, aiding in effective decision-making and resource allocation.

The COVID War Room in Mangaluru, formerly the ICCC, is now a vital hub coordinating multi-departmental activities. It serves as a base for professionals and first responders to take calls from citizens, provide information, and offer telemedicine services. By leveraging predictive analytics and heat maps, the centre helps manage and monitor the COVID-19 situation effectively.
