LifeSciKY Partners with Thermo Fisher Scientific to Boost Northern Kentucky's Life Sciences Sector

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has expressed excitement about the partnership between LifeSciKY and Thermo Fisher Scientific, viewing it as another addition to Kentucky's growing life sciences sector.

LifeSciKY, a Covington-based nonprofit lab incubator, will soon open its doors at the OneNKY Center in Covington. The 15,000-square-foot laboratory facility, scheduled to open in early 2024, will cater to biotech startups and academic spinouts that need specialized lab space and resources.

Dr. Christin Godale, Executive Director of LifeSciKY, expressed gratitude towards Thermo Fisher Scientific for their commitment to increasing life sciences innovation in Northern Kentucky. Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has become the founding sponsor of LifeSciKY, providing significant enhancements to LifeSciKY's lab infrastructure and resources for lab residents.

"We are thrilled to partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific," said Dr. Godale. "Their industry expertise, technical support, and potential collaboration opportunities will be invaluable to our lab residents."

Kim Baltier, vice president of global commercial operations, biosciences at Thermo Fisher, shared similar sentiments. "We are grateful for the partnership with LifeSciKY," she said. "We are committed to lowering operational barriers for startups and helping them grow and succeed."

LifeSciKY's facility will offer affordable lab space, state-of-the-art equipment, and essential resources to early-stage life sciences companies. Lab residents will also have access to Thermo Fisher's industry expertise, technical support, and potential collaboration opportunities.

The partnership aims to integrate lab residents into a global life sciences network. Kenton County Judge Executive Kris Knochelmann stated that the partnership provides critical resources to support innovation, attract top talent, drive economic growth, and foster a collaborative ecosystem for breakthrough discoveries and accelerated success.

LifeSciKY's partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific is another addition to Kentucky's growing life sciences sector, as expressed by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. The establishment of LifeSciKY and its new lab has been funded by the state with bipartisan support from leaders such as Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Kentucky State Senator Chris McDaniel.
