Kuwait's Interior Ministry has disclosed permitting women, whose citizenship was rescinded based on Article 8, to travel utilizing their previous Kuwaiti passports from June 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025. This provisional decision aims to straighten out their legal predicament. The Ministry underscores that all relevant individuals must comply with specific requirements.

Kuwait permits disenfranchised women to traverse borders with old Kuwaiti passports from June to September 2025.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior has announced a temporary travel permission for women whose citizenship was revoked under Article 8. These individuals may utilize their former Kuwaiti passports for international travel between June 1, 2025, and September 30, 2025. This measure aiming to facilitate the regularization of their legal status.

Those affected must adhere to specific procedures. In the first instance, they need to coordinate with the embassy of their original nationality to secure a valid passport, whether it's from their former nationality or one that allows legal residency in Kuwait.

A one-year period, starting on June 1, 2025, has been designated to facilitate the adjustment of these individuals' legal status. During this time, they are required to take action within the initial three months to maintain eligibility for state benefits. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of any benefits. Proof of initiating the process, such as a passport request, must be submitted.

The Ministry emphasized that full compliance with all outlined procedures is crucial for continued access to benefits and support. There are no exceptions for those whose citizenship has been revoked. Filing for legal status adjustment does not preclude women from submitting a formal grievance regarding their citizenship status to the appropriate committee.

Once the legal status is regularized, a new civil ID card will be issued. This card will display the phrase: 'Kuwaiti individual treatment in accordance with established regulations' and indicate the individual's current nationality. This step is intended to streamline the legal transition process while ensuring continued access to applicable benefits.
