Initial establishment of a sports box in Uedesheim for motivating increased sports participation among the Neuse community

The town of Neuss is enhancing its sports infrastructure, with the addition of new sports halls, outdoor training areas, modernised football fields, and multi-functional courts for various sports. This expansion aims to offer improved training environments and support a broader range of athletic activities for both amateur and professional athletes.

One such facility is the sports box at SV Uedesheim, which is set to undergo an expansion to include a calisthenics facility. The city of Neuss, in collaboration with the Neuss City Sports Association, has submitted a funding application for this project.

The calisthenics facility, once completed, will provide various equipment for body weight training, including dumbbells, medicine balls, mats, ropes, and bands of different strengths. It will also feature a Bluetooth music system to enhance the training experience.

SV Uedesheim will oversee the care of the sports box, while the city of Neuss is currently examining the sports area of the Südpark leisure facility as a possible location for another sports box. The potential installation of another sports box is contingent on the availability of funds, based on the current experiences in Uedesheim.

Users can access these facilities through their membership or participation in local sports clubs like SV Uedesheim. Typically, clubs manage the booking and use of facilities, often requiring registration or membership. In some cases, public access may be granted during specific hours or community sports programs organised by the city or local sports associations. For precise access details, athletes should contact their specific club or check the Neuss city sports department’s announcements and schedules.

To book a time slot and open or close the sports box, users can utilise the "Sportbox app and move" app. Registration for using the sports box can be done via the same app.

Neuss is one of 150 municipalities to receive a sports box through funding from the "REStart" program of the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The city's ongoing efforts to expand sports facilities reflect its commitment to promoting sport and exercise in various ways.

  1. The calisthenics facility, once installed at SV Uedesheim as part of their sports box expansion, will offer a wide range of other equipment for health-and-wellness, including dumbbells, medicine balls, mats, ropes, and bands of different strengths, catering not only to sports enthusiasts but also to those interested in fitness-and-exercise and wellness.
  2. In line with Neuss's commitment to promoting various forms of sport and exercise, they are currently examining the sports area of the Südpark leisure facility as a possible location for another sports box, which will further expand the offering of health-and-wellness activities alongside sports in the town, supporting both amateur and professional athletes.
