Grevenbroich: The Wildlife Sanctuary Has Been Enhanced with a New Fitness Facility

In a recent development, Grevenbroich's Wildlife Sanctuary has expanded its offerings to include a Calisthenics facility and two children's climbing cubes near the grill hut. This move aims to broaden the sanctuary's appeal as a popular recreational destination.

Mayor Klaus Krützen commented on the addition, stating, "With this new sports equipment, we are boosting the sanctuary's attractiveness. Such investments were once unimaginable but are now feasible due to our successful exit from the balanced budget requirement."

The city, the German Forest Conservation Association (SDW), and the local utilities collaborated on the €18,000 project. The SDW's significant contributions to restoring and enhancing the sanctuary, particularly post-storm "Ela" in 2014, were instrumental.

The new equipment encourages various exercises such as pull-ups, push-ups, and squats. Signs with QR codes guide users to an app offering exercise instructions.

The sanctuary, beyond being a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, is now also set to function as a gathering spot for fitness enthusiasts, much like the fitness trail did previously, promoting the motto "move more often."
