Health Workers in Kogi State's Public Health Sector Receive Extensive Family Planning Learning from Kogi State Ministry of Health
The Kogi State health sector is set for a significant boost, as local government health officials have commenced a comprehensive family planning training program. The event, which took place at Edgedrive Hotel, Lokoja, from September 14th to 22nd, 2025, was officiated by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Momoh Steven, on behalf of the Honourable Coordinating Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Adeiza Abdulazeez.
Dr. Musa Omeiza Muazu, Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, emphasized the importance of the training program, stating that it will enhance the attendees' performance and contribute significantly to the improvement of the health sector in Kogi State. He urged all participants to take the program seriously and maximize this opportunity.
Dr. Musa Omeiza Muazu also expressed concern regarding the inadequate data management systems in local government facilities. He attributed these shortcomings to inefficiencies among personnel at the local government level. He emphasized the need for full engagement in the training program and attending all sessions to address these issues.
The Kogi State Government expressed its appreciation to MSI Reproductive Choices for organizing the training program. Mr. Momoh Steven underscored that this training demands active participation, dedication, and commitment from all attendees. He highlighted the crucial role of health officers from local governments, noting that their direct interactions with communities provide essential healthcare services that save lives.
The training program aligns with the Ministry of Health's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of its healthcare workforce. The local government health officials attending the program include representatives from the health departments of various local government areas in Kogi State, such as Lokoja, Okene, and Kabba/Bunu.

The Commissioner emphasized the significance of the training program, stating that it will enhance the attendees' performance and significantly contribute to the improvement of the health sector in Kogi State.
