That's right, y'all! The new joint on the block, the Super Health Center, has finally dropped in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City. The Department of Health (DOH) 7 officially handed over the keys on Monday, May 5, 2025. This bad boy isn't just anybody's average health center; it's a super health center, delivering superior healthcare services to the good people of Cebu City.
Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia hinted during an interview on Monday that this joint will be a game-changer for the city's hospitals, as the healthcare services will soon be available to the public.
Dr. Grace Valdez, who will be overseeing the facility and staff, spilled the beans about the staffing situation. The center will house eight doctors, eight midwives, three pharmacists, radiologists, nurses, and medical technologists. Dr. Valdez assured us that this staffing level meets the DOH licensing requirements.
However, she noted that the election ban prevented the hiring of temporary personnel.
Miguel Gerson, DOH Development Management Officer V under the Local Health Support Division, confirmed during a recent interview that the health center came with a hefty price tag of P9.9 million and took 309 days to complete.
This super centerwill provide ultrasound, laboratory, and pharmacy services not available in ordinary health centers. Gerson also mentioned that the local government unit of Cebu City will be responsible for supplying the personnel and equipment necessary to fully realize the Super Family Health Center.
