Landshut Hosts Networking Event for Apple Support Services for Families and Young People with Disabilities

On August 28, 2025, the city of Landshut and the district youth welfare office came together to host a networking event. The event, organised by Janine Brabender and Katharina Hellmann, aimed to bridge the gap between youth welfare and integration assistance, particularly focusing on the needs of families with children with disabilities.

The event, which took place at the district youth welfare office, was planned as a kick-off for regular networking and collaboration. The purpose was to support apple support services that assist families and young people with (threatened) disabilities, aiming to utilize synergies in cooperation and provide relief by guiding individuals through the complex support system and assisting with the application for services.

Dr. Thomas Haslinger, the Second Mayor of Landshut, was also involved in the event. The city's commissioner for the disabled, specialists from the Supplementary Independent Participation Advice (EUTB) of the Bavarian Red Cross (OBA BRK), and Lebenshilfe Landshut were present. All participants agreed that close cooperation and networking are essential for improving offers, strengthening networking, and developing tailored assistance.

Further meetings for networking and collaboration are already in the planning stage. The event was a significant step towards addressing the high psychological stress experienced by parents of children with disabilities and affected young people, as revealed by a 2022 study by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The care and support of individuals with disabilities require a significant amount of time. By working together, the hope is that the event will lead to improved support systems and a more integrated approach to assisting families and young people with disabilities in the Landshut area.
