Greifswald's Drinking Water Declared Safe After Contamination Scare
Residents of Greifswald, excluding the island of Riems, were recently affected by a drinking water contamination issue. However, following thorough inspections, the city's water supply has been declared safe for use.
The Stadtwerke Greifswald, responsible for monitoring drinking water quality, discovered minor contamination with enterococci in the city's water supply during routine checks. This led to a temporary boiling order being issued by the health department. However, subsequent inspections found no defects, and no bacteria were detected at any tap in Greifswald. As a result, the health department has lifted the boiling order, and drinking water in Greifswald is now usable without restrictions.
After a brief period of concern, Greifswald's drinking water supply has been deemed safe once again. The city's waterworks have passed inspections, and residents can now use their tap water without any restrictions.
