Government issues alert over incorrectly labeled pasta product: Tortellini
Alert Issued for Mislabeled Schnucks Tortellini Pork & Beef Product
A public health alert has been issued by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for a mislabeled Schnucks Tortellini Pork & Beef product. The product, which may contain pork and beef toasted ravioli with undeclared soy and sesame allergens, was distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
The affected product is a 16-ounce bag labeled as "Schnucks Tortellini PORK & BEEF" with a best by date of 05/27/2026. The mislabeling was discovered after a consumer complaint about a bag labeled as tortellini containing ravioli instead. The product was produced on May 27, 2025, and bears the establishment number EST. 13051 within the USDA mark of inspection.
Although no confirmed allergic reactions have been reported, the FSIS advises anyone concerned about a reaction to consult a healthcare provider. Consumers who purchased the mislabeled product are urged to either discard it or return it to the place of purchase due to the allergen risk. No recall was requested because the product is no longer available for sale.
The mislabeled bags were shipped to a Schnucks distribution center in Missouri and subsequently distributed to retail locations across the affected states. Consumers who purchased the product can return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
For any questions about the public health alert, consumers can contact Jessica Fazio, plant manager, at (314) 645-6239 ext. 230 or [email protected]. Consumers with general food safety questions can reach out to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or email [email protected].
The FSIS continues to work with the company to investigate the matter and will provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, consumers are reminded to read labels carefully and to discard any product that may pose a risk to their health.
