Enhancement of Fujairah's Health Sector Through the Development of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, a Project Worth Dh843 Million
In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Fujairah has been inaugurated. The new facility, managed by The Medical Office (TMO) under the PureHealth Group, is a flagship project within the UAE President's Initiatives, a nationwide strategy providing essential funding for vital infrastructure projects.
The Dh843 million hospital, spanning 89,000 square metres, boasts modern facilities and cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional healthcare services. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, described the hospital as one of the most important projects completed under the President's Initiatives programme.
The hospital houses 222 beds, with the potential to expand to more than 350 beds, and features a modern emergency and trauma department with 30 beds, expandable to 60. It operates 24 hours a day for emergency and inpatient services, while outpatient clinics receive patients from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The Sheikh Khalifa Hospital caters to diverse healthcare needs with 55 outpatient clinics and three dedicated medical centres of excellence. These centres specialise in burns treatment, rehabilitation, and trauma treatment. The burns unit, for instance, has 10 patient rooms, five intensive care beds dedicated to burns, and an operating theatre equipped for such cases.
The rehabilitation centre is equipped with the latest therapeutic equipment, including speech therapy, audiometry, a hydrotherapy pool, two hyperbaric oxygen therapy rooms, and advanced prosthetic support. The hospital is also equipped with advanced imaging systems such as CT scans, MRI, and tomography.
The hospital's establishment and management fall under the broader healthcare strategy of the UAE to improve access to quality care through integrated healthcare networks like PureHealth Group. The Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, as part of the Sheikh Khalifa hospital network in the northern emirates, is expected to play a crucial role in expanding healthcare services in the region.
The hospital was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Hamad emphasized the importance of the new hospital in bolstering Fujairah's health sector, highlighting its significance in the healthcare development of Fujairah.
