Empowering Individuals with Disabilities: TABALiNGO's Initiative
In the heart of Stolberg, the Tabalingo association continues to make a significant impact, not only in the local community but also on a national level. On Thursday evening, the association was awarded third place in the health category of the prestigious ZukunftsWege Prize, an annual award given by the Commerzbank Foundation to recognise non-profit organisations that enable young people with social or health disadvantages to enter training and employment.
Markus Schnorrenberg, the managing director of Tabalingo, accepted the award in Frankfurt. This recognition is a testament to the association's commitment to creating opportunities for people with disabilities.
The Tabalingo association offers a wide range of sports and cultural activities for people with and without disabilities. Two permanent members of the team, Marius Gärtner and Eric Claßen, contribute significantly to the association's daily operations. Their roles encompass various tasks such as mowing lawns, taking care of household chores, and co-training in basketball.
Joining the team is Johanna Rohs, a new member who brings a unique perspective to the association's social media presence. Johanna, like Marius and Eric, has Down syndrome. Despite the anonymity surrounding the identity of the club's current social media supporter with Down syndrome, Johanna's contributions are making a noticeable impact.
Johanna, who is currently employed at the Lebenshilfe workshop, is thrilled about her new role at Tabalingo. She expressed her hope for a potential future within the association, stating, "I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to contributing more to the Tabalingo community."
The community of Stolberg is equally thrilled about the Tabalingo association's success. Everyone is pleased with the third-place win in the ZukunftsWege Prize, and the article reporting this achievement is available online from 19.09.2025 to 19.09.2027.
The Tabalingo association's journey is a shining example of inclusivity and opportunity for people with disabilities. As they continue to grow and make a difference, it is clear that their mission to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all is being fulfilled.
