Doting Father Takes His Last Breath, Leaving Behind Three Daughters: His final phone call before his death unfolds
In the quiet suburb of Rowville, Melbourne, a heart-wrenching event unfolded on August 4, 2023. Shaun Skinner, a loving father of three, tragically passed away due to a sudden heart attack at the age of 36.
Shaun was at home taking care of his two youngest daughters, Sophie and Everly, when he fell ill. His fiancée, Ashlee Tyrrell, was alerted by a phone call. Upon arriving at the scene, Ashlee's father collected their nine-year-old daughter from school.
Paramedics tried to revive Shaun for 45 minutes, but unfortunately, they were unable to do so. Resuscitation efforts were stopped an hour later.
The couple, who were due to get married next year after 14 years together, shared three beautiful daughters: Sophie, Violet, and Everly. In the aftermath of this devastating loss, Ashlee has taken time off work to care for her daughters and ensure they are well enough for her to return.
Ashlee and the girls are currently staying with Ashlee's parents in Pakenham. In an effort to support the grieving family, friends have created a GoFundMe page, which, as of this article, has raised $38,842.
Friends have also set up an email account for Ashlee and the girls, allowing people to share words of support and memories of Shaun. The collected messages will be consolidated into a book.
It is important to note that while Shaun had a pacemaker, which was fitted nearly two decades before his death, sudden heart attacks in individuals with pacemakers are not commonly reported as a direct complication of having a pacemaker. Pacemakers primarily address heart rhythm disorders and are designed to prevent the heart from stopping or from dangerously slow heart rates rather than causing heart attacks.
However, individuals with pacemakers may still experience heart attacks due to underlying cardiovascular disease and risk factors unrelated to the device. The failure rate of pacemaker leads or batteries over 8-10 years is approximately 10-15%, but this tends to relate to device function, not acute cardiac events like heart attacks.
The two other daughters said their final goodbyes to their father, and the family continues to cope with the profound loss. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Ashlee, Sophie, Violet, and Everly during this difficult time.
