Development projects in chosen neighborhoods revealed for the subsequent phase of the Local Communities Partnership Programme, led by G F Tomlinson.
G F Tomlinson, a Midlands-based contractor, has revealed the charities it will support through a new collaborative initiative called the Local Communities Partnership Programme. The programme, which is part of G F Tomlinson's ongoing commitment to delivering social, economic, and environmental benefits to local communities, is being delivered in partnership with Arc Partnership, a joint venture between Nottinghamshire County Council and SCAPE.
Applications were invited from not-for-profit/charitable organizations in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and Staffordshire for construction-based advice and support for a community project. The panel for the 'Dragons Den'-style event includes representatives from G F Tomlinson, Arc Partnership, SCAPE, and Perfect Circle, a property, construction, and infrastructure consultancy.
Forever Stars, a charity that supports bereaved parents who have suffered a stillbirth or infant loss, has been selected. They are looking for help with the second phase of their Forever Stars Serenity Garden, a baby loss remembrance garden. Treetops Hospice, a leading end-of-life care charity, has also been selected. They wish to upgrade and rejuvenate their grounds, and reconfigure and refurbish their office and backroom spaces.
Autism East Midlands, the largest autism charity in the region, has been selected. They aim to create new landscaped grounds with an environmentally friendly sensory garden at one of their residential facilities. South Lincolnshire Blind Society has been chosen to remodel, upgrade, and refurbish its premises to provide additional mental health services to the community.
In a statement, Craig Stopper, Regional Construction framework manager at G F Tomlinson, expressed excitement about forging long-term partnerships with the chosen organizations and seeing the benefits to the community. He said, "We are thrilled to be able to support these fantastic charities and community projects through the Local Communities Partnership Programme. It's a privilege to be able to use our expertise to make a real difference in local communities."
The chosen charitable organizations will attend an informal virtual, 'Dragons Den'-style event on 31 March, to discuss their projects in more detail with a panel of industry experts, gaining advice and support. In the last three years, G F Tomlinson generated £23.9million worth of social value through the SCAPE Regional Construction framework across the Midlands region.
Daniel Maher, managing director of Arc Partnership, emphasized the importance of not-for-profit organizations in supporting local communities and the construction industry's role in ensuring a strong and sustainable legacy by generating social value. He said, "We are proud to be working with G F Tomlinson on this initiative. It's essential that we use our resources and expertise to support local charities and make a positive impact on our communities."
At the start of this year, G F Tomlinson was recognized as a leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR), achieving a Gold standard CSR Accreditation. The company has a strong focus on social value and invests in four key areas: employment, training and skills; sustainable procurement; environmental protection and enhancement, and community support.
In addition, the non-profit organization "Water for Memorials" chose the 'Dragons Den'-style event in March 2023 to develop demands and support through an expert group from the industry to carry out the construction of a special water installation in a memorial garden. The selected project from the event will have access to continual support and advice as part of the Local Communities Partnership Programme.
The Local Communities Partnership Programme is a testament to G F Tomlinson's commitment to delivering social, economic, and environmental benefits to local communities. The company looks forward to working with the chosen charities and making a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
