In a heartwarming announcement, professional dancers Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Hough shared the news of their upcoming parenthood. The couple, who got engaged in June 2022 and married in Monterey County, California on Aug. 26, 2023, revealed their exciting news through an Instagram video.
The journey to this moment wasn't without its challenges. In the midst of Derek Hough's Symphony of Dance tour, Hayley Erbert Hough was hospitalized for an emergency craniectomy. This type of brain surgery, typically performed in emergency situations, involves the removal of a piece of the skull. Two weeks later, she underwent a cranioplasty surgery to repair cranial defects, both cosmetically and functionally, as stated by the National Library of Medicine.
Throughout this challenging time, Derek Hough expressed his admiration for Hayley's strength and referred to her as his "rock throughout it all." During a performance on "Dancing with the Stars" during the show's "Dedication Night" in October 2024, he called her his "beautiful miracle."
The couple's "DWTS" family, including Peta Murgatroyd and Britt Stewart, flooded their comments section with congratulatory messages following Tuesday's announcement. Britt Stewart, a "DWTS" pro, expressed her readiness to be an aunt, saying "Truly no words can match this blessing!!!!"
In the same Instagram post, Hayley Erbert Hough thanked everyone for their well wishes and support, stating that they are "overjoyed and grateful for this beautiful miracle."
The couple's pregnancy news comes from a series of sonograms that were revealed in the video. The current status of their pregnancy is that they are expecting their first child together. Despite the medical challenges Hayley Erbert Hough faced, the couple remains optimistic and excited for their new chapter as a family.
