Vida Court, a new specialist dementia care facility, is set to open its doors in Harrogate this summer. The 24-hour care home will provide a safe and secure environment for families affected by dementia, catering for individuals as young as 40.

The facility, developed by Vida Healthcare, will feature one hundred bedrooms across eight individual 'houses' with specialized features. Each house will offer a homely environment, designed to promote independence and wellbeing for its residents.

Currently, 1 in 4 NHS beds in the UK are taken up by patients living with dementia over the age of 65. With a growing diagnosis of dementia among younger age groups, the need for specialized care facilities like Vida Court is increasingly important.

Vida Healthcare is working closely with construction and build teams, including Projex Building Solutions and Caddick Construction, to deliver the latest thinking in dementia care at Vida Court. The building will also include a Vida Academy training center for staff and a new headquarters facility for Vida's head office personnel.

James Rycroft, managing director of Vida Healthcare, is a founder member of The Outstanding Society and was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Social Care at the regional finals of the 2017 Great British Care Awards. In 2018, Vida Healthcare was a regional winner at the Great British Care Awards, winning the Employer of the Year award. The company has already achieved two 'Outstanding' ratings from the Care Quality Commission for its two existing dementia facilities in Harrogate.

Caddick Construction is delighted to be part of the team that is bringing dementia-focused facilities to the region. "We are proud to be working with Vida Healthcare on this important project," said a spokesperson for Caddick Construction. "The need for high-quality dementia care facilities is growing, and we are committed to delivering a facility that will make a real difference to the lives of those living with dementia and their families."

The architectural firm responsible for the design of the new Vida Court Dementia Care Facility in Harrogate is yet to be announced. However, it is known that the building will adopt a tiered design with plenty of light, large internal walking areas, and easy access to external gardens.

In England and Wales, the number of dementia sufferers who need palliative care is forecast to almost quadruple by 2040. The opening of Vida Court is timely, as it will help meet the growing demand for specialized dementia care facilities in the region.

Vida Court is the third facility in Harrogate for Vida Healthcare, which was established 7 years ago. The company's commitment to providing high-quality dementia care has been recognized by the industry, with its two existing facilities in Harrogate achieving 'Outstanding' status from the Care Quality Commission.

The construction of Vida Court is expected to be completed this summer, providing much-needed support for families affected by dementia in the Harrogate area.
