This ambitious project hosts workshops in a comfortable setting, where women are free to explore new ideas and talents in a safe environment.

Sempffed women, doubting their competence or believing they cannot do enough, are the network's target audience. Women like Julia Saemann, a 42-year-old business coach and mentor, recognize this pattern and strive to shatter it.

Together with Katja Johland, Saemann offers a space for women to make progress, experiment with new ideas, and find the strength to act on their dreams. "We're here to guide women as they navigate the ups and downs of their unique life situations," says Saemann.

Johland and Saemann, though coming from different industries, felt a calling to support one another and extend a hand to other women embarking on their entrepreneurial journey. Their own venture into self-employment in 2021, with Johland's focused on holiday property rentals, sparked enthusiasm for helping fellow women achieve success.

At present, the network counts 25 members, ranging in age from 21 to 60. These women, with diverse backgrounds—from yoga instructors to interior architects—reflect the wide range of knowledge and experiences within the network.

"We're not focused on the traditional hell-bent executive or entrepreneur; rather, we seek out women with individual goals, ideas, and dreams who are often in need of that final push," explains Saemann.

From Vision to Reality

"The Bergischer Women's Hub is all about connection, not walking the path alone," says Sarah Edelmann, another founding member. She met the idea of the women's network through a mutual acquaintance. The spark for the network was initiated at a brewery Stammtisch meeting in summer 2024, where 15 women gathered, mostly from Saemann and Johland's social circle.

The network was officially founded by Johland, Saemann, Edelmann, and Mona Orban—an enfant terrible with a flair for communication—in December 2024. All four founders are mothers who saw the need for a space to work outside their homes, where they could focus on professional pursuits without being overwhelmed by household responsibilities.

After a thorough search, they settled on a coworking space with a comfortable ambiance in the city center, fitting perfectly with the hub concept of a gathering place.

Workshops and Collaborations

Six women can work simultaneously in the network's coworking spaces, and a multifunctional meeting room is available for members to book on a quarterly basis. The spaces have become an integral part of Sarah Edelmann's resilience training and coaching work.

Members, like the founders, range in age from 40 to 50 years old, making this a force of experienced, mature women who have often juggled family responsibilities and would now like to focus on professional growth.

A fresh start in a new life phase is a common theme among members, who often find themselves questioning their goals and career aspirations. The network aspires to offer the needed support and encouragement to motivate and inspire these women in their quest for change.

Looking Ahead

The Bergischer Women's Hub aims to create a safe and supportive environment, allowing women to unlock their potential, build resilience, and work towards their professional goals.

"My ultimate vision is for the hub to be a space where women can find the resources, connections, and inspiration they need to create lasting, meaningful change in their lives," says Johland.

Friday, June 13, from 7 to 9 PM, the network hosts its next workshop, "Discover the Power of Your Voice," led by voice coach and singer Isabell Honig. Attendees will learn techniques to project their voices powerfully and confidently, as well as other secrets to radiating presence and sovereignty[1]. The fee is €39, with registration at [email protected].
