Compensation of 1.6 million rubles granted to patient by Krasnodar Dentistry Department
In a recent ruling, the October District Court of Krasnodar has ordered the "Oscar" dental clinic to pay a patient over 1.6 million rubles for poor dental treatment. The patient, who underwent treatment at the clinic from January to July 2021 to correct her bite, experienced severe pain and complications due to the treatment. As a result, she had to take painkillers and seek help from another dental clinic to fix her health. According to the court decision, the clinic's doctors made serious mistakes during the treatment. They failed to collect anamnesis, conduct a detailed examination of each tooth, determine the oral hygiene index, and issue a radiologist's conclusion. These oversights led to the patient developing a purulent abscess and changes in bone tissue, requiring emergency surgery. The patient filed a lawsuit against the "Oscar" clinic, which the court satisfied. The total amount includes a refund of the therapy cost (641 thousand rubles), a fine (320 thousand), moral damages compensation (100 thousand), and a penalty (530 thousand). However, it is important to note that the decision made by the court is not yet in effect - it can be appealed within a month. Meanwhile, modern youth are less likely to have wisdom teeth, according to dentists. The reasons for this trend were not specified in the article. Interestingly, when the patient sent a complaint to the "Oscar" clinic, they ignored it. A forensic medical examination was conducted at the request of the investigator. The clinic has not been accused or charged by anyone, as there are no search results indicating such events. The patient could not eat or speak normally due to complications from dental treatment. She also had to go to another dental clinic to fix her health due to complications from the initial treatment. This case serves as a reminder for dental clinics to prioritise patient care and follow proper procedures to avoid such incidents in the future.
