Columbia Journalism School Backs Global Fellowship of Investigative Journalists
Columbia Journalism School is backing Dante Dallago, a prominent American freelance investigative journalist, in his exploration of human rights violations, migration, conflicts, and police accountability. Meanwhile, a global group of ten skilled journalists, including Boryana Dzhambazova from Bulgaria, have joined the Fellowship Programme to tackle pressing challenges in journalism. Each will produce an in-depth project, with topics ranging from global development funding to peacebuilding in conflict zones.
Dante Dallago, known for his work on human rights and conflict resolution, is sponsored by Columbia Journalism School. He will delve into peacebuilding in conflict journalism. Boryana Dzhambazova, based in Bulgaria, will examine how independent outlets in Central and Eastern Europe are adapting to the 2025 funding crisis. Other fellows include Vince Chadwick from Euractiv Australia, who will explore the new landscape of global development funding, and Patrick Egwu, a freelance journalist from Nigeria, who will document Nigeria's unique investigative journalism techniques.
The Fellowship Programme offers a mix of journalists from various outlets, including public broadcasters, digital-first platforms, and freelancers. Salla-Rosa Gröhn, a producer at YLE Finland, will focus on the role of content creators in driving information literacy. Throughout the programme, fellows will participate in seminars, events, and networking opportunities with experts in journalism and media research. They bring a diverse range of reporting knowledge, covering beats such as health, climate, and politics.
