Camgenium introduces an application designed for supporting prostate cancer patients

In the fight against prostate cancer, a significant stride has been made with the introduction of the HealthiumPro system. This cloud-based software solution, developed by Camgenium in partnership with Professor Petre Cristian Ilie, is set to revolutionise patient care in hospitals across the UK.

Built on the flexible Xenplate platform, HealthiumPro is designed to enhance safety before and after surgery, aiming to improve the outcomes of prostate cancer patients. The system is hosted in Camgenium's data centre, with the company working closely with hospital compliance teams to ensure regulatory standards are met, specifically ISO 13485 for medical devices.

The Xenplate platform uses a modular, no-code software platform with built-in design tools, allowing clinicians to develop applications using drag-and-drop methods, minimising the need for bespoke coding. This streamlined approach has proven beneficial in hospitals where HealthiumPro has already been deployed, improving patient care.

One of the key features of HealthiumPro is its stent register, which simplifies the logging and tracking of stent insertions to ensure timely removal or exchange. In the UK, where no national electronic stent register is currently used across the NHS, this feature could significantly improve patient care and safety.

The system also assists in the automation of writing surgical notes and correlates surgical data with patient-reported outcomes. Furthermore, clinicians can remotely monitor patients' blood pressure and temperature through HealthiumPro, providing continuous care and support.

The HealthiumPro app offers additional features such as remote consent forms, pre-surgery information, and access to recommended exercises. Dr. Philip Gaffney, CEO of Camgenium, expressed his pride in enabling the HealthiumPro system, stating that it aims to improve patient safety, outcomes, and efficiencies in the hospital.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK, with 55,000 cases diagnosed annually. As the population ages and diagnostic practices improve, the incidence rate of prostate cancer is expected to increase by 15% between 2023 and 2040. This trend underscores the need for innovative solutions like HealthiumPro to address the rising demand for healthcare services related to prostate cancer.

Research emphasis is shifting towards prevention, novel therapies, and personalised medicine to manage the anticipated increase in prostate cancer cases. Enhanced public health strategies are also crucial to improve early detection and manage risk factors.

In conclusion, the HealthiumPro system represents a significant step forward in the fight against prostate cancer, offering a comprehensive solution to improve patient care, safety, and outcomes. With regulatory approval to host the system on the NHS private network, HSCN, HealthiumPro is ready for nationwide implementation in other healthcare settings, ensuring that more patients can benefit from this ground-breaking technology.
