Blood Donations Surge in 2025: Over 47,000 Donations Recorded

Blood donation has seen a significant surge in 2025, with over 47,000 voluntary donations recorded. Whole blood and plasma donations have been the most frequent, while platelet donations have also contributed to the total.

The Stefan-Morsch-Stiftung, Germany's first stem cell donor registry based in Birkenfeld, Rhineland-Palatinate, has been instrumental in promoting blood donation awareness. Their website provides comprehensive information on blood donation, its components, bone marrow donation, and hematopoietic stem cells.

In Nizhny Novgorod alone, more than 18,000 residents have stepped up to donate blood since the start of the year. This collective effort has led to a notable increase in first-time donors, with over 1,600 individuals joining the donor community in 2025. Whole blood donations have been the most common, with 35,000 recorded, followed by plasma donations at 10,300. Additionally, platelet donations have totalled 1,800.

The surge in blood donations, particularly whole blood and plasma, is a testament to the public's commitment to saving lives.
