Birgit Dziuk Named New BARMER State Managing Director in Saxony-Anhalt

Birgit Dziuk has been named the new State Managing Director of BARMER in Saxony-Anhalt, starting October 1, 2025. She succeeds Axel Wiedemann, who is retiring. Dziuk, who has cross-Health Insurance Fund experience, aims to promote collaboration and utilise efficiency reserves to future-proof the healthcare system in the region.

Dziuk, who holds degrees in Health Insurance Management and Applied Health Sciences, has been serving as State Managing Director in Thuringia since 2017. She joined BARMER through a merger with the German BKK in the same year. Before this, she held various positions at statutory health insurers like AOK and BKK, demonstrating her extensive experience in the field.

Dziuk's appointment comes as BARMER represents the interests of around 240,000 insured individuals in Saxony-Anhalt. She will be moving to the region to take up her new role. Despite her impressive career trajectory, there is no public information available about her previous position before she became State Managing Director in Thuringia.
