Headline: Warning Issued Over Potentially Contaminated Watermelons from Kazakh Company BekAgroM

Consumers in various regions are being advised to exercise caution when purchasing watermelons from the Kazakh company BekAgroM, following reports of excessive nitrate levels in their products.

Laboratory tests have revealed that the watermelons, which were packaged on June 25 and have a shelf life of 45 days, contain dangerously high amounts of nitrates. This contamination could potentially lead to health issues such as organ intoxication, thyroid problems, and even tumors.

Nitrates, which are more harmful in watermelons compared to other melons, tend to accumulate in the flesh near the rind. It's important to note that nitrates in watermelons can also reduce vitamin content and degrade fruit quality.

The Gomel Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health detected the contaminated watermelons on June 25, but no information about the manufacturer of these products from Kazakhstan has been found in search results.

To ensure the safety of the products, it's recommended that consumers ask sellers for documents confirming the product's safety. Additionally, specialists advise against purchasing melons from roadsides or unsuitable places.

In light of this incident, it's crucial to remember that even good watermelons should be consumed in moderation, especially by children. A toddler should have only one piece of watermelon per day, while a school-aged child can have up to two.

Previously, a dangerous sweet containing excessive cadmium was banned from sale in Belarus, serving as a reminder of the potential dangers that can be found in consumed products. Cadmium, a toxic metal, can accumulate in the body.

As the situation develops, consumers are encouraged to stay informed and exercise caution when purchasing watermelons from BekAgroM or any other sources to protect their health and well-being.
