AstraZeneca Vietnam & Vietnam Cancer Association Join Forces to Fight Cancer Nationwide
AstraZeneca Vietnam and the Vietnam Cancer Association have joined forces to combat cancer nationwide. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding on September 19, aiming to accelerate cancer care transformation and improve patient outcomes.
The partnership will focus on several key areas. Firstly, it aims to update professional guidelines for cancer diagnosis and treatment. This will involve strategic collaboration between AstraZeneca and the German Cancer Society, German Cancer Aid, Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany, and the German Society for Hematology and Medical Oncology. These organisations will work together to develop and update guidelines as part of the Oncology Guidelines Program.
Secondly, the partnership will promote public health education. AstraZeneca Vietnam has already held seminars to improve treatment, healthcare, and management of hereditary cancer in Vietnam. The company has also established a collaborative ecosystem in oncology through partnerships with leading hospitals and training institutions, enhancing diagnostic and treatment capabilities for healthcare professionals.
Over the next two years, the Vietnam Cancer Association plans to develop and update 'Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines' for various cancer types. These will be submitted as national standards. The goal is to reduce the cancer burden through collaboration, professional training, improving healthcare facilities, policy advice, and public awareness.
AstraZeneca Vietnam's commitment to driving scientific advancements and building a comprehensive cancer care ecosystem has been recognised. The company was honoured in the Outstanding CSR Activities category at the 2025 Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Awards. With GLOBOCAN statistics from 2022 showing over 180,000 new cancer cases and 120,000 cancer-related deaths in Vietnam annually, this partnership is timely and crucial in the fight against cancer.
