The executive department's request for a P738 million budget to fund Lapu-Lapu City's Supplemental Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2025 has been granted by the city council.
The AIP will allocate P676 million for the General Fund, P11 million for the Development Fund, and more than P51 million towards enhancing hospital operations. Councilor Annabeth Cuizon, chair of the finance committee, confirmed the council's approval of the supplemental AIP during a regular session on May 28.
The breakdown of the General Fund allocations includes P323 million for general services, P200 million for social services, and P152 million for economic services.
The hospital operations budget of P51 million will be distributed to improve hospital facilities and cover expenses in both mainland and island barangays.
A significant portion of the hospital funds, P48.7 million, will be allocated for the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital in Barangay Gun-ob, with resources earmarked for a new x-ray machine, medicines for non-communicable diseases, anti-rabies vaccines, and other medical necessities.
Additionally, P2.4 million is designated for general services and improvements at the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital on Olango Island, completing the hospital operations allocation of P51 million.
The P11 million development fund will be used for installing a drainage system in Barangay Poblacion, under the environmental services category.
Cuizon indicated that Supplemental Budget 1, which will appropriate the approved funds, will be up for deliberation during the Council's next session this June.
