Almaty Holds Food Festival: What Else Could Be in Store for Retirees?
Festing with Seniors: A Culinary Adventure in Almaty 🍲🥳
Step into the vibrant city of Almaty, where a food festival is underway, dedicated to celebrating the seniors in our community. This celebration is part of a month-long effort to support our elderly neighbors. 🌟
At the Active Longevity Center, around 100 senior citizens took part in this delightful event, indulging in the mouthwatering Fergana plov. A special guest, experts in Eastern cuisine, led a masterclass on healthy eating and shared some scrumptious recipes. Almaty.tv was there to capture the action. 🎥
According to Aсия Akanova, the Center's Director, they strive to help seniors lead fulfilling lives, with activities catering to different age groups. "We currently operate under strict sanitary and epidemiological guidelines, with quarantine conditions ongoing. As a result, we offer offline activities for those under 65 and online sessions for our senior community, reaching around 300 people daily," she shared.
The food festival continues! Next week, seniors will have the opportunity to taste dishes from Russian, Tatar, and Azerbaijani cuisines. That's not all - the Center is collaborating with the city's Social Welfare Department to organize additional leisure activities like outdoor yoga sessions and tourist outings for retirees. 🧘♀️✈️
As Bibigul Tanibergen, a pensioner, put it, "Today, we savored Uzbek plov, and it was absolutely delicious! The Center organizes various events for us. We may be of a certain age, but we still know how to have fun and even dance! It can be tough for seniors living alone, but here we connect, chat, and create memories together. We want to thank the Center for making these moments possible for us."
