A new hospice has been established in Leipzig
New Diakonie Hospice in Leipzig Set to Open on Wednesday
The Diakonie Hospice in Leipzig, located in Magnusstraße, Eutritzsch, is all set to begin operations on Wednesday. This is the fourth hospice facility in the city, part of a larger network operated by the Diakonie organization.
Construction of the hospice began at the end of 2021 and was completed by the end of the same year. The total cost of building and equipping the hospice is approximately four million euros.
The new hospice will provide care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, offering a range of services including counseling, spiritual care, and support for families of patients. It will start operations with 12 beds and be staffed by 30 employees.
The director of the new Diakonie Hospice is Thomas Freund. Speaking about the upcoming opening, Freund said, "We are looking forward to providing palliative care to patients, focusing on pain management and quality of life."
The Diakonie Hospice will join three other hospice facilities in Leipzig, all aiming to provide comfort and support to those in need during their final days. With the addition of this new facility, the Diakonie organization continues to expand its network of hospices, offering compassionate care to more individuals and families in the city.
As the hospice prepares for its grand opening, the staff and volunteers are eager to begin their work, providing a much-needed service to the community. The Diakonie Hospice in Leipzig is set to make a significant difference in the lives of many.
