"2024 MUT-TOUR Kicks Off in Bremen on June 1st - Advocating for Greater Transparency Regarding Depression and Mental Health Issues"
The much-anticipated Mut-Tour 2023 is set to begin on June 1st, with the starting point at the market in Bremen at 11:30 AM. This annual cycling tour, which traverses Germany, promises a day filled with activities, performances, and open conversations about mental health.
The day's events in Bremen will include a music and stage program from 10 AM to 3 PM, featuring speeches from sports functionary and politician Willi Lemke (SPD) and sociologist Annelie Keil. These two are patrons of the Mut-Tour and have been instrumental in raising awareness about depression and other mental illnesses.
Interactive activities for all ages, a raffle, and musical accompaniment by Gota Guaya are also part of the Bremen event. Organizations related to self-help groups, such as DAG SHG and NAKOS, will be present, providing information and interactive activities focused on mental health. The event emphasizes activity, exchange, and self-efficacy, making self-help tangible and supporting participants through open conversations about mental health.
As the day progresses, the Mut-Tour teams will join forces with local partner organizations such as brynja e.V., Kultur vor Ort e.V., the Woerterwerkstatt of Fokus e.V., and the Independent Ombudsman and Complaints Office Bremen. These organizations will have information stands and interactive activities set up for visitors.
The hike will begin during the Mut-Tour kick-off in Bremen and will proceed towards Achim, with the destination being the Werdersee around 3 PM. Kultur vor Ort e.V. will accompany the stage team on a joint hiking action towards Weyhe during the Bremen tour kick-off.
The Mut-Tour's route can be found on this link. Each year, six-person teams travel on tandems for the Mut-Tour, engaging with locals along the route. The Great MUT Hike allows individuals, groups, associations, school classes, and clubs to join daily without prior registration.
Last year, the Mut-Tour concluded in Oldenburg, and this year, the tour aims to continue its mission of raising awareness and fostering open discussions about mental health. The image above shows the Mut-Tour's conclusion in Oldenburg in 2023.
